Hon. Dr. Zahra Muhammed Umar, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Kano
State has disclose that, the Women Arabic Teachers College, Goron
Dutse (WATCOSA) class of 89 chapter played role in her achievement in
life.
Dr. Zahra disclosed this in an interview with newsmen shortly after
the 30th years anniversary and honoring celebration held at tourist
camp Kano recently. Noted that, the gathering refresh her memories of
the happy time she had in the prestigious school.
According to her, the class of 89 set has contributed immensely in
shaping the lives of former students particularly those reach extreme
height in their career. Hon. Commissioner who is also the head girl of
class 89 chapter describe Girls Childs Education as the backbone of
any nation building. Saying that, if you educated women, you educate
the nation. And if women are provided with a position in the authority
all the problems of our country will be solved. And she urged parents
to ensure that their children’s goes to school.
In his reaction, the chairman of the event, Mal. Labaran Yahaya
Galadanchi expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for spearing his
time to witnessed this programme saying that he was very happy to be
one of teachers who taught class of 89 chapter. Adding that, to give
an education to a woman is just like given the whole nation.
Therefore, he call on stakeholders to support government programmes on
education in its effort to provide free and compulsory education for
all.
In her remark, Hassana Salihi Diso said, 30th years anniversary is a
time to celebrate the joy of today and the memory of yesterday and
hope for tomorrow. He said, the college has produced distinguished
alumni in their various endeavor, adding that, it is important for us
to help restore the glory of the college so that the coming up
generation will also benefit the same education that we have.
