Grand Khadi eulogises Ganduje over commissioning Court of Appeal



The Grand Khadi of Kano, Tijjani Yusuf Yakasai has described the commissioning of court of Appeal Kano Division as a good development and historic moment. He commended Ganduje administration and people of Kano state over this initiative and development. Saying that, since the inception of Kano State in 1967, we have clamour for a division of the court of appeal to be established here in Kano, but unfortunately did not have the presence of the court of appeal until the era of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Khadimul Islam. In fact, this is a kudos to the government, judiciary and the people of Kano State. The Grand khady who disclose this during a press briefing with journalist in his office recently, noted that with the opening of Kano State division of court, Kano has now the full compliments of the State and Federal Courts, except of course the Supreme Court which still operates only from its seat in Abuja. Adding that, this is a major boost to the administration of justice in Kano and Jigawa State. The Grand Khady said this will promote access to justice by bringing the court nearer to the people and to the members of the legal profession. Siting a Division of the Court of Appeal in Kano will thus go a long way in enhancing the administration of justice in this part of the country. Added that, it will improve the speed of justice to litigants. In his remark, the Chief Registrar High Court of Justice Kano State Jamilu Shehu Sulaiman said, the opening of the appeal court here in Kano will definitely boost to the administration of justice in Kano and Jigawa State. Sulaiman said, it was somewhat inexplicable that one of the country’s vital economic axis did not have the presence of the Court of Appeal. Adding that, It was a matter of common knowledge that majority of the cases and indeed most certainly of the commercial cases that come before the Kaduna Division of the Court of Appeal emanate from Kano. The Chief Registrar further explained that, the commissioning of court in Kano will remove the associated burden and inconvenience of travel to Kaduna that we have endured over the decades. it is easy sometimes to underrate these risks. He explained that, we have over the years lost a few colleagues on the Kaduna – Kano Highway.
