While Mailafiya made the revelation while fielding questions about the Southern Kaduna crisis on a radio programme, the NCF gave the warning in a statement signed by its leaders, including former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’Abba, public affairs commentator, Prof. Pat Utomi its Head of Publicity, Dr Yunusa Tanko.
Lamenting that Nigerians have been kept in “perpetual recursive mode,” the group also said: “I have pointed to the widespread violence, insurgency, banditry, and crime that is pointing us on the road to Somalia, the crisis in our educational system, and the economic troubles that keep our well-being in perpetual recursive mode.
“Everyone knows that without peace, progress is a pipe dream, yet we continue to mismanage the violence that is now Nigeria writ large.
“My first point about the violence engulfing us today is that it is so without purpose. We seem all so vulnerable to nihilists.
“Poverty and policy failure regarding education and economic growth are critical to reversing the situation. But I do not see effective deployment of soft power in dealing with the issues.”
In this regard, the leaders of the group said they would mobilize to stage a nationwide mass action over what they described as political corruption, insecurity and poverty in the country, pointing out that President Muhammadu Buhari appeared helpless over the issues.
The NCF strongly believed that for Nigeria to survive the present rapacious political rip-off and rape of its economy, Nigerians must join forces with its emerging political movement whose objective is to check “official corruption and flagrant abuse of public trust constantly playing out in Nigeria’s power centres.”
Other notable members of the NCF include Prof Chidi Odinkalu, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN, Comrade Isa Aremu, Dr Chris Ekiyor, Comrade Shehu Sanni, Sen Grace Bent, Mallam Dr Tanko Yunusa, Arch Ezekiel Nya Etok, Rt Hon Inuwa Garba, Prof Mrs Remi Sonaiya, HC Peter Ameh, Mr Segun Osinowo, Comrade Kassim Balarabe Musa, Lady Funke Awolowo, Mallam Abdulmamud Aminu, ACG Ali Abubakar Wakili, Mr Jude Feranmi, Hajia Kadijat Abdullahi, Comrade Alistair Soyode, Mrs Habiba Balogun, Mallam Nasser Kura, Lady Bunmi Lawson, and Mrs Jophia Gupar.
The statement read in part: ”All Nigerians of Conscience are again being passionately enjoined to stand up and join hands with the unwavering resolve of the National Consultative Front, NCFront to make the required sacrifices towards cleansing and sanitizing Nigeria’s centres of power and in smashing and flushing our prevailing corruptive political system being sustained by a tiny clique of power mongers and political merchants marauding as the country’s leaders.
”In view of the various unimaginable melodrama and macabre dance of corruption and chaos within the top echelon of the Nigerian political leadership and government, which has been exposing the cause of high-level insecurity and hunger in the country today, it has also become imperative for us as victims of the increasing misgovernance and official impunity to halt the festering rot and political coronavirus in the country’s power centre. ”Consequently, all of us as citizens of conscience should have no choice but to urgently rise in unison to utilize our collective power as a vast majority of united citizens capable of chasing out that clique of ruinous political cartel ravaging our commonwealth enabled by their self-serving capture of our Government and State, now being ruthlessly deployed to milking us to stupor, while riding roughshod on us as a people.
“It is for this reason that the ongoing nationwide consultations and mobilisation of the NCFront are being strategically deployed towards engendering a credible alternative political leadership and government for the Nigerian people through an all-inclusive nationwide mass resistance and action ”This is because a situation, where the President of Nigeria is caged and his office is being run by some unelected clique of proxies and power traders, operating without pretence to any form of mandate from the Nigerian people, is unfathomable and unacceptable and must be massively resisted and neutralized before we, as a country are all thrown into a major disaster and turmoil.”
In the radio interview, Mailafiya said the Bandits terrorising the country were working hand-in-hand with terror Sect, Boko Haram, adding that their plan was to institute a civil war in Nigeria by 2022.
According to the former CBN deputy governor, “Boko Haram and the bandits are one and the same thing. They have a sophisticated network. During the lockdown, their planes were moving up and down as if there was no lockdown.”
He further said: “They were moving ammunition, moving logistics, moving money and distributing them in different parts of the country. They are already in the south, in the rain forests of the south, they are everywhere. They told us that when they finish these rural killings, they’ll move to Phase two. The Phase Two is they will go into the urban cities, going from house to house, killing prominent people. I can tell you this is the game plan.”
“By 2022, they want to start a civil war in Nigeria. Don’t Joke with what I am saying. I have a PhD from Oxford University. I’m a central banker and we don’t talk nonsense.”
