Why we’re not going to pay Civil Servants March Salary —Adamawa Governor

Governor of Adamawa state, Umaru Fintiri has stated that due to the economic crunch as result of COVID-19 pandemic, it is unable to pay March salary.

This was made known in Press statement issued the governor’s Director of Communication and Media, Mr Solomon Kumangar .

The Governor said that the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the government from paying the consequential adjustment of the national minimum wage agreed upon and duly signed with the joint trade unions.

The Governor in the statement added that his administration is committed to paying the consequential adjustment with the backlog/arrears as soon as COVID-19 and its negative economic implications abate.

The statement reads,”It should be noted that the government decided on this and other cost-saving measures to enable it to undertake basic services.

“Finally, the government assures that the welfare of the workforce remains paramount and the centrepiece of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s cardinal agenda.”
