The Social Protection and Inclusion Manager, Mrs. Gladys Ester Ahuwa has describe social protection policy as the panacea to obstacle associated with insecurity, poor infrastructural development, lack of portable water, interrupted power supply and others saying that a nation that lack social protection policy will continue to remain in darkness and cannot go forward in development.
She said social protection policy was all about ameliorating the living standard of the poor, and protection of the vulnerable against life and livelihood of risk, enhance in social status and right of the marginalized. It also about removing the financial barriers to access to human development needs including basic social services.
Ahuwa who disclosed this during the Kano State Social Protection Policy and town hall meeting held at Tourist Camp, Kano recently noted that the social protection policy was inaugurated by government and the designed for individuals and household throughout the life cycles to prevent and reduces poverty and socio/economic shocks by promoting and enhancing livelihood and life of dignity.
She said when present government come on board it established the social protection policy and some states has already adopted and domesticated the policy to fit the situation of their state.
Gladys explain that the policy was committed to dedicate national resources to improve the life of it citizen and strengthening the role of social protection policy in helping to distribute resources more broadly.
She said the objective of organizing the Kano social protection policy and town hold meeting was identify the problems and challenges that are inimical to the development and implementation of social protection policy.
