President Muhammadu Buhari is elegantly neglecting his constitutional duty.

President Buhari’s act of negligence towards the appointment of the supreme Court Justices is a total prejudice to section 231(2) of the 1999 Constitution. Reports claimed that four names were forwarded on 24, October 2019 to president Buhari for confirmation as justices of the supreme Court. Eight months after, the president is yet to forward the names to the national assembly for confirmation. This bring to the fore the fact that, the president is reluctantly sleeping on his constitutional duty. The bench of the Supreme Court consists of 12 justices instead of the stipulated number of 21. Instead of forwarding the names to the national assembly as prescribed by the Constitution by virtue of section 231(2) of the Constitution, the names were forwarded to Department of State Services (DSS) for scrutiny. This is very strange to the nation’s judicial system and unknown to law. Is this an improvisation or deliberate negligence?
