UNICEF supports Kaduna Govt. to boost nutrition services By Philip Yatai The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has pledged continued provision of nutrition supplies and technical support to Kaduna State Government in boosting nutrition services to women and children. Dr Zakari Adam, Chief of Field of Office, UNICEF Kaduna, made the pledge on Tuesday at the opening of a one-day review meeting with Local Government Areas’ (LGAs) Nutrition Focal Persons. Adam, who was represented by UNICEF Nutrition Specialist, Mrs Chinwe Ezeife, said that the technical support was critical to providing quality nutrition services to women and children. Jigawa Govt plants 2.5m tree seedlings Tree plantingBy Muhammad Nasir Bashir The Jigawa Government has nursed 2.5 million tree seedlings to be planted during the 2020 tree planting campaign to combat desertification in the state. The spokesman of the state Ministry of Environment, Mr Zubairu Sulaiman, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Monday. Sulaiman said the seedlings would soon be distributed to residents for free to plant in their farms and homes. He explained that some of the seedlings would be planted along both state and federal roads in the state. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has distributed seedlings and herbicides to farmers in Iseyin community as part of activities to mark one year anniversary of his administration.
