Controversies have continued to trail the legality or otherwise of the new Imo State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, No. 2 of 2020 passed into law by his Excellency, the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma on the 11th day of March, 2020.Concerns have been raised on the provisions relating to “PLEASURE”, permitting the State Governor to detain suspects at his will.The New Imo ACJL by section 484 provides that suspects must obtain License before any Release will be made. Alleged sodomy: Court remands 60-year-old blind man

A Dutse Chief Magistrates’ Court Jigawa State on Wednesday ordered that a 60-year-old blind man, Muhammad Abdul, who allegedly attempted to sodomise his guide boy be remanded in a correctional centre. The Magistrate, Akilu Isma’il, who ordered that Abdul be remanded in Dutse Correctional Centre, adjourned the case until October 5 for further mention. The police charged Abdul, who resides in Guru Local Government Area of Yobe State, with attempt to commit unnatural offence. Earlier, the Senior State Prosecution Counsel, Kabiru Warwade, told the court that Abdul committed the offence on September 8 at 10am at Garko Quarters in Hadejia Local Government Area. Amaechi gives update on Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed that upon completion of the Lagos-Ibadan railway project by December, the Federal Government would immediately commence construction of the Eastern rail line which connects Port Harcourt–Bonny to Maiduguri. The Minister stated this in Ibadan, shortly after inspecting the level of work on all the stations across the Lagos-Ibadan railway project.
